Rev. Richard (Dick) Harry Williams, Sr. loving husband, proud father, awesome grandfather and friend, born December 7, 1937, walked through the gates of Heaven to his eternal home on January 7, 2018 at the age of 80. Dick was a member of the Brooksville Wesleyan Church, Brooksville, FL, where he had been the Visitation Pastor until he became ill in January, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of 2.5 years, Nadine Sioma-Williams, daughter Gena (Larry) Baney of Brooksville, FL; son, Richard, Jr. (Sheryl) of Glen Campbell, PA; daughter, Susan (Timothy) Hawk of Elmira, NY; son, Samuel (Cindy) of Coalport, PA; daughter, Valerie (William) Keever of Brooksville, FL; daughter, Laura Williams of Irvcona, PA; 32 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings: Donna Lockard, Fred Williams, Glenda (Bill) Brady and Jack Williams. Preceding him in death were his wife of 56.5 years, Lois (Rydwell) Williams, and parents, Harry and Clara Williams.
Dick, who was also called Pappy, Pop-Pop and Uncle Dick, was a man who loved his Heavenly Father with every cell of his body and would share Him with all those who came into contact with him. Dick loved to talk about Jesus, pray with people, serve humbly and love on people. Anyone who met him soon found a friend for life. With his blue twinkling eyes and smile, he loved to tell jokes, and when he spoke he smiled with abundant joy. He was patient and very gracious with the people he met and left a godly impact on everyone. When one would shake his thick, rough hand you would discover they were hands of hard work and sacrifice. He was a thankful man, even to the very end.
Dick was ordained by the Wesleyan Church, in the Penn-Jersey District. He pastored the Port-Ann, Black Lick and Shillington Wesleyan Churches. He was Dean of Men and worked as "professor" of Buildings and Grounds at United Wesleyan College, Allentown, PA. for 13 years. In 1982, he and Lois moved back to the family farm in Glen Campbell, PA where he had his own construction and repair business called Williams Homes and Improvements. Dick and Lois ran Williams Personal Care Home for mentally challenged men for 7 years. In 2006 they moved to Wesleyan Village in Brooksville, FL where he worked for the village doing maintenance for 5 years. He then took on the maintenance and lawn care for the Brooksville Wesleyan Church for 2 years. Dick was a "jack-of-all trades and master-of-many". He was given his dream job in 2015 to be the Visitation Pastor at the Brooksville Wesleyan Church until January, 2017.
Although Dick was unable to come home after his stroke on January 4, 2017, and continue his work at the church, he continued to minister to those who cared for him, praying for and counseling his caretakers and other residents at the Spring Hill Rehab Center.
Dick, husband, dad and friend will be greatly missed by all. However, we know that we will see him again when we meet in Heaven some sweet day.
