Millie Swift, a loving, caring, compassionate, devoted, sweet mother and wife, has died at age 86, on Sunday, November 27, 2016. She passed at the Evergreen Woods Health and Rehab Center, in Spring Hill. Millie was a 3-year resident of Spring Hill, coming from Mission, TX. where she was a 20 year resident. Millie was born October 3, 1930 in Alton, Illinois, to the late Eugene & Marie (Davis) Malson. Millie Swift, a loving, caring, compassionate, devoted, sweet mother and wife, has died at age 86, on Sunday, November 27, 2016. She passed at the Evergreen Woods Health and Rehab Center, in Spring Hill. Millie was a 3-year resident of Spring Hill, coming from Mission, TX. where she was a 20 year resident. Millie was born October 3, 1930 in Alton, Illinois, to the late Eugene & Marie (Davis) Malson. Millie was raised in Alton during the depression and was lovingly adopted at the age of eight (8), by her Aunt Ethel. As a native, longtime resident of Alton, IL, Millie met and married her husband of 67 years, William (Bill) Swift. They married on June 10, 1949, in Alton.



Millie was a spunky energetic woman with a big heart and a strong passion for life. She had a deep devotion to God and her family. Her smile and sense of humor always lit up a room and brought smiles and laughter to friends and family.



Millie was a past PTA member at the Cottage Hills Elementary School, while her children were students. She was the owner of Gifts of Love Floral Shop, in Alton, with her daughter Pamela, and was also an Interior Decorator. Prior to opening her own shop, she was an office manager/bookkeeper at the Kutter Brothers Lumberyard, in Cottage Hills, IL, all before retiring to Texas. Millie was a devout Christian by faith. Her husband was a post officer of the VFW and Millie was an associate. Millie was preceded in death by her parents and by her oldest son, William Swift, Jr., who passed away in 2000, and her daughter, Pamela Gray, who passed away in 2016. Millie is survived by her husband, Bill Swift, of Spring Hill, FL, sons; Scott Swift, of Spring Hill, FL, and Todd Swift of Lutz, FL, and her daughter in-law Martina Swift. She has 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and her sister, Eunice Wolf, of Godfrey, IL.



Millie’s family will have a memorial gathering and service Wednesday, November 30th, from 3pm to 5pm, at Bill Swift’s Home. Please contact us or Bill Swift for notification of your participation.
